How 5 minutes work-out impact on my mental health

As you guys know, I am currently in my 10th
year of having paranoid schizophrenia. There is a particular habit that I do
recently and routinely. You can check out my 4 recommended good habits here: https://natashaelizabethp.blogspot.com/2023/12/4-recommended-good-habit-that-you.html
This is one of the habits that I
recommend that is working out. From
November last year to today when I posted this blog post I started to work out. I
start with the maybe most simple workout which is 5 minutes workout.
Within these 4 months of working out, I
already feel the benefit. But, let’s start with the physical condition that affects
mental health means from mental health foundation.
According to the Mental Health Foundation, “Having a long-term physical condition can lead to low
self-esteem, stigma, discrimination, and social isolation”
Here are many examples that I
experienced as I started to work out for my mental health.
The first one would be mood
improvement. Having paranoid schizophrenia makes me develop a fear of people. On New Year’s Eve, I stayed at my cousin’s house and I didn’t work out that day
so my hormones got high and I experienced panic and anxiety attacks. I know to
calm them though! But that makes me notice a huge difference when I work out and
when I cannot work out. Working out improves my mood and keeps me stable.
The second one is to give me new ideas
and new inspiration. You may don’t know but I usually work out before I write
in the evening. That gives me a great sense of ideas especially when writing
fiction stories. When I don’t work out I tend to feel confused and don’t know
what to write.
The last one is to stabilize my
hormones. Also, you can do it through food and eating though! Before I
develop this habit, I find it hard to control and stabilize my hormones
especially when schizophrenia takes over my head. It’s hard yes. When I start
working out even though just five minutes, I can control myself better and have control of my illness better.
I’ll keep you updated if I experience
another benefit. Do you also have that experience? Maybe because of your mental
illness? Feel free to share it in comments.
